Housekeeping

I'm planning to upgrade the blog so that it can be more user friendly. I'm still using the old blogger template which deprives me of certain enhancements and label features of the new blogger. Blogrolling seems to be almost dead and the blog roll disappears from time to time making it difficult to load the page. It's long overdue and I've got to bite the bullet and get it done. So if the blog goes offline during the conversion, it's only temporary, I hope.

Today was a good day. I caught some nice moves in gold stocks ABX and AEM and some retracement trades in CNQ and the Qs. I'll try to post some charts over the weekend.

Update: Sat. Oct. 11 - The conversion went smoothly. I'm still in the process of adding back all of my blog links which I hope to complete by the end of the weekend. I copied my old template into a google doc and was able to cut and paste most of the HTML coding into the side panel using the gadgets feature in new blogger. I still need to fiddle a bit to widen the side panel to fit one of my sponsors plus some new stuff I'd like to add. I really like the labels feature for searching past posts by topic. Too many topics, but that can be fixed later.

I am still on the old blogger template, and have the same issue with Blogrolling from time to time...but I have noticed they are in IE, not Firefox. In fact, I have never noticed an issue with my blog or yours loading or displaying correctly in Firefox. But I have noticed issues in IE.

For what it's worth.

X,

Yeah, I'm having problems with blogrolling in firefox. I'm sure IE is worse, but I only use FF. I prefer to read blogs through my blog roll as opposed to a reader and last night, for example, it wasn't working and yours disappeared as well. The BR site was down as well. This is happening quite often and I think they are not maintaining or enhancing Blogroll features, so I've decided to dump it, before it dies altogether.

Interesting. I'll wait to see your upgrade experience. I am reluctant to do it because I have done so much customizing to my template over the years. Good luck!

Me too. I did a test last night and all the customizing will disappear. My main concern is the paid advertising, the feed, and the links. The rest I can rebuild at my own pace.

I am too eager to see the upgrade.

PRD,

The upgrade is, for the most part transparent. However, there are new features such as labels which I didn't have in old blogger which makes it easier for readers to search past post for specific topics of interest.

This is the upgrade and now I just have to add back my blog links which is a work-in-progress along with a few edits to make the side panel wider.

Jamie,

The breakdown and link by Labels is awesome! That feature is well worth the transition - that sentiment from a guy who did no work on the transition :)

Glad it went smoothly for you. Don't forget del.icio.us links!

Jim,

Thanks, I agree it was well worth it just for that feature alone.

X,

Good eye! I had forgotten all about del.icio.us.
